Costain has hired two non-executive directors, including Amey’s former chief executive.

Steve Mogford and Amanda Fisher will join Costain’s board on November 1 and December 1, respectively, and will serve as members of the contractor’s audit, nominating and remuneration committees.

Fisher ran Amey from 2019 until January 2023, when he left the company. Sale of 400 million euros from Ferrovial to One Equity Partners and Buckthorn Partners. railway credited Fisher with overseeing a “cultural transformation” and “successfully” preparing the business for sale.

The duo replace Costain non-executives Jacqueline de Rojas and Neil Crockett, who will step down at the end of the month.

Costain chairman Kate Rock said: “The board is delighted to welcome Steve and Amanda to Costain. Both bring a wealth of experience in key markets including energy, water, highways and the railway

“They have driven improved profitability and increased market share [at their respective businesses]and I look forward to working with them to support the growth we expect in Costain’s operating profit and margins.

“I would like to thank Jacqueline and Neil for their considerable contributions to Costain and their guidance to the board throughout their tenure. Both have provided significant advice and insight, supporting the group’s growth strategy.”
