Providence, Rhode Island-based Gilbane Building Co. announced Tuesday that it has appointed Michael C. Brown as regional president overseeing the Midwest and Texas regions. Brown will be based in the company’s Chicago office.

Brown began his career as a project superintendent, according to a news release shared with Construction Dive, and most recently served as executive vice president and general manager of Florida operations for Sweden-based construction company Skanska USA.
Before working at Skanska, he spent nearly two decades with Gilbane. During that time, Brown rose from business development manager to vice president and operations manager and senior vice president of the builder’s Southeast division, according to the company. The professional engineer holds a degree in civil engineering from the University of Michigan.
“It feels like a homecoming,” Brown said in an email. “I look forward to rejoining as the company continues to build on its world-class project delivery.”
This is not the only recent move at the company’s executive level. Gilbane named Adam Jelen he will be the company’s new CEO in June, with the transition effective next January.
