The contractors opted for a £680m Cambridge Uni framework

Kier, Morgan Sindall and Willmott Dixon are among 14 contractors chosen by Cambridge University for a £680m pipeline.

The companies will carry out work over the next four years on the university’s operational estate, which includes everything from Grade I listed buildings to laboratories and research facilities, museums, a farm and a botanic garden.

The major construction works under the framework, with a total value of £650m, are divided into projects worth more than £7.2m and those valued between £1.2m and £1.8m.

Bam, Bowmer & Kirkland, Kier, Morgan Sindall, SDC Builders and Willmott Dixon will undertake the higher value work, with the smaller jobs split between Barnes, ISG, Morgan Sindall, RG Carter, SDC Builders and Willmott Dixon.

Ed Sutton, director of pre-construction at Bowmer & Kirkland, said the company’s selection was a “great platform” to expand its operations in the Cambridge area, as well as in the science and technology sector. technology

“Our high performance over many years in numerous national frameworks enabled us to offer a service proposition that aligned with [the university’s] The needs of the Estates Division”, he said.

The second frame, worth £30m, is made up of projects valued between £450,000 and £1.8m and those worth up to £600,000.

Projects between £1.2m and £1.8m:
Barnes, ISG, Morgan Sindall, RG Carter, SDC Builders and Willmott Dixon

(It is unclear whether the University of Cambridge intends to tender for projects worth between £1.8m and £7.2m. The university has been contacted for clarification.)

Minor construction works

Projects from £450,000 to £1.8 million:
Carmelcrest, Hutton Construction, RG Carter, SDC Builders and Vinci

Projects up to £600,000:
Carmelcrest, Etec Contract Services, Hutton Construction, Millcam, RG Carter, SDC Builders and Willmott Dixon
