It turns out that hard hats don’t just protect heads, they also make good artwork.
Sachse Construction, a Detroit contractor, partnered with three local artists and created a charity auction with unique helmets created for the project, according to a press release from the builder.
The helmets are original pieces of art that feature collage designs, multi-colored faces and striking patterns.
For each helmet sold, the profits will be split equally between three partner charities:
- Downtown Boxing Gym, an after-school program and sports center serving youth in Detroit and nearby suburbs.
- Junior Achievement of Southeastern Michigan, a nonprofit organization that focuses on teaching youth about financial literacy and career preparation.
- The Konnection, a Detroit-based tutoring program that aims to improve student achievement and attendance through after-school programs, field trips and career exploration.
The helmets are on public display at Sachse’s office in downtown Detroit, and interested collectors can bid on the pieces online. The auction closes on December 8th at 15:00
“We are thrilled to partner with these talented artists to support students through the power of art,” Todd Sachse, CEO of Sachse Construction, said in the release.
