Ardmore has been appointed as the main contractor on a £50m office refurbishment job in central London.
Client LS Estates has appointed the Islington-based firm for its commercial project at 5 Chancery Lane.
The work will involve refurbishing the existing six-storey building, located between Fleet Street and Holborn, to provide 105,600 sq ft of flexible high-end office workspace.
The plans include the demolition of the existing top floor and the addition of two new floors.
The addition of a new terrace with a cross-laminated timber structure is set to offer occupiers “panoramic views over the central London skyline”, according to a statement from LS Estates.
He added that the work has been “thoroughly designed to minimize operational carbon and water consumption”. Foggo Associates is the project architect.
The client said the work would retain 86 per cent of the existing building structure and achieve BREEAM Excellent certification and an EPC A rating.
LS Estates chief executive Mark Swetman said: “The demand to bring sustainable buildings to occupiers has never been greater.”
Construction will begin in January 2024.
