NORTH FORT MYERS, Fla. – The Lee County Sheriff’s Office is investigating after a North Fort Myers man said his backhoe was stolen.
The homeowner woke up Tuesday to find the backhoe missing from his front yard just off Slater Road in North Fort Myers.
“I went over and looked, and I saw where somebody had pushed it out,” Rod Troyer said. “I guess they loaded it on a trailer.”
Troyer says someone had to take it in the middle of the night.
“About 2:30 in the morning, my neighbor heard a truck going up and down the road,” Rod Troyer said.
Reports said it is an orange Kubota track hoe and is worth about $25,000.
“I always put the backhoe in the garage and lock it up, but since we’re working in the garden, I left it here for a few more days. I should have saved it, but I didn’t,” says Rod Troyer.
Troyer said he forgives whoever took the machine; he just wants it back. If you know who stole it or have seen it in the area, call the Lee County Sheriff’s Office.
