Georgia

Rivian is preparing to begin construction on a $2.5 billion electric vehicle manufacturing plant planned in Rutledge, Ga., with a planned start date for vertical construction of Feb. 1. Project investment is expected to reach $5 billion, and work will be completed by July 2026. The project includes 13 single-story buildings totaling 16 million square feet, including 2.5 million of square feet in a research and development facility, a test track, 144 charging stations, a train yard and storage buildings. Skidmore, Owings & Merrill (SOM) is the project architect, Clayco is the construction manager and Jacobs Engineering Group is listed as the engineer. Tennessee

LG Chem will soon break ground on its $1.6 billion LG Chem battery plant in Clarksville. An innovation has been made for the design-bid-build project, called Project Columbus, with a target start date of February 1 and a target completion date less than a year later, on January 2025. The work includes four floors of four floors. buildings for a total of 2 million square feet on a 420-acre site where the total investment is expected to be $3.2 billion. A cathode material production facility will be built, with mixers, auger feeders, electric furnaces and more. North Carolina

Avangrid Renewables is in the planning stages of a $450 million offshore wind farm in Kitty Hawk. A construction start date is anticipated for July 1, 2026. The facility will encompass 12,405 acres approximately 27 miles from the Outer Banks and is expected to generate up to 1.5 GW. The plans also include the construction of up to 69 wind turbines, an offshore substation, inter-array cables and two transmission cables. Export cables from the offshore site will connect to the onshore grid in Virginia Beach. Final approvals are expected in late 2025 and completion in July 2030. Florida

Monroe Capital and The Witkoff Group are preparing to begin renovations and vertical construction on the Auberge South Beach hotel in Miami Beach. The $430 million design-bid-build project will include three buildings, including an 18-story residential tower called Shoreclub Private Collection with 49 units. An existing hotel will be renovated for 75 suites, as well as another structure with a total of eight private residential units. The reinforced concrete structures will total nearly 400,000 square feet and are scheduled for completion in December 2026. Florida

Broward County and JetBlue have begun construction on a new stand-alone terminal for Fort Lauderdale/Hollywood International Airport, a two-level, $404 million, 230,000-square-foot structure that will include five domestic gates. Gensler is the architect and Keith is the general contractor for the at-risk construction management project, which is expected to be completed in July 2026.
