A backhoe stolen from a Grand Forks job site has been located.
Late last month, Ryan Anderton, president of Anderton Contracting, reported the theft of a 2011 Volvo model BL70 backhoe. The backhoe was last seen on 72nd Avenue in Grand Forks, next to the ball diamonds at Dick Bartlett Park.
Anderton then offered a $2,000 reward for information leading to the recovery of the machine.
The original post went viral on local news pages.
On March 6, Anderton contacted the Gazette to say he had been found about 10 km north of Grand Forks on Granby Road. He added that he was reserving further comment until contacted by the RCMP.
He confirmed that Bekki Asling, who lives on North Fork Road, was the one who provided the information.
The Gazette reached out to the Grand Forks RCMP for information on the investigation and recovery. In a statement, officers attended and confirmed it was the stolen backhoe. No charges or arrests have been made at this time.
