NEW YORK
The New York State Department of Transportation plans to rehabilitate the Cross Bronx Expressway (Interstate 95) viaduct, which crosses Webster Avenue, Third Avenue and the Metro-North Railroad in the Morrisania neighborhood of Bronx County. The concrete deck will be replaced and other deteriorated bridge elements will be repaired or replaced. Construction is expected to begin in August 2027 and be completed in February 2032. TENNESSEE
The Tennessee Department of General Services plans to build a public health laboratory at the state’s RS Gass Complex in Nashville. The 180,000-square-foot, multi-level building will be located on a 6- to 7-acre site at the intersection of Ellington Parkway and Hart Lane. It is designed by Earl Swensson Associates. Turner Construction Co. has been selected as a construction manager at risk. Construction is expected to begin in May 2024 and be completed in June 2026. The project is valued at $130 million. The Minnesota and Wisconsin state departments of transportation are evaluating submitted proposals from engineering services to conduct an independent peer review of the ongoing preliminary design of the John A. Blatnik Bridge, one of two bridges connecting Duluth , Minnesota, with Superior, Wisconsin, carrying Interstate 535 over Bay St. Louis and connecting I-535 and US Route 53. The Minnesota Department of Transportation is the lead agency. The cost of the project, which involves demolishing the existing bridge and building the new bridge, is estimated at $1.5 billion.
