100 Mile House RCMP are continuing their investigation into a theft at the Cariboo Lac La Hache Regional District Transfer Station.
Sergeant Brian Lamb said on Thursday night (April 4) the doors to the station were damaged and a backhoe was stolen.
Around 10 p.m., police were notified that he was seen driving on Highway 97 at a high rate of speed.
Lamb said they received another call from someone who said they may have accessed the pipe where members did a patrol and found tire tracks they believed to be from the backhoe.
Police located him hiding in a wooded area in the area of Lilly Pad Lake Road, south of his original location and Lamb said no arrests have been made.
