The Great Wolf Lodges may look aesthetically similar, but building their largest complex turned out to be as complex as building a hospital, the project team says. The 680,000 square meter facility includes restaurants, a lobby with a special effects audiovisual screen, arcades, a bowling alley, a mirror maze, an indoor climbing area, 22 water slides, a wave pool, a lazy river and one outdoors. swimming pool
To avoid mistakes in the hotel rooms, the team spent a month creating full mock-ups of each room type, so that signatures for fixtures and finishes could be made before the rooms were installed en masse.

Supply chain issues prevented the team’s preferred roofing and truss material from being easily sourced, so the team deployed bar beams and metal roofs with three layers of coating high performance to protect against corrosion in the hot and humid environment of the water park. The team managed the quality control and installation process to ensure the high-performance coating was fully and correctly applied to deliver a long-lasting product.
The team’s use of prefabrication helped speed up the schedule. Several components were constructed off-site and then assembled on-site, ensuring a safer project and reducing the time and effort required for on-site construction.
