A crane company is being prosecuted after three men died on a construction site in Crewe.
Falcon Tower Crane Services will appear at Chester Crown Court on Friday (October 6) charged with health and safety offenses following a fatal crane collapse six years ago.
Rhys Barker, 18, from Castleford, David Newall, 36, from Bradford, and David Webb, 43, from Northampton, died after the incident at a Seddon venue in Dunwoody Way, Crewe, in June 2017
Barker and Newall, who worked as crane erectors for the company, died at the scene, while Webb, an electrician working on the crane, died six weeks later.
The incident prompted calls for a review of regulations on the use of tower cranes, including the reintroduction of a national register.
The Health and Safety Executive (HSE) said the charges followed a “lengthy and complex” investigation.
Falcon Tower Crane Services is based in Norfolk and has a depot near Manchester.
The company is accused of contravening Section 2(1) and Section 3(1) of the Health and Safety at Work Act etc. of 1974.
