
Jacobs will provide program management services with a contract of $ 137 million awarded by the Public Finance Authority of the Virgin Islands of the United States to help reconstruct critical infrastructure throughout the territory that was damaged by the hurricanes.
The Dallas -based professional services company announced in a statement on Wednesday that it will guide the construction of power, Water and wastewater utilities, Hospitals, schools and hallways as part of the “Reconstructing USVI” project—In recovery, it was released after the Hurricanes in category 5 Irma and Maria wreaked havoc on the islands of the territory in 2017. The Office of Disaster Recovery (ODR) of the Public Finance Authority of the Virgin Islands oversees the project, which received more than $ 20 billion in federal funding to support recovery efforts.
National Hurricane Center estimated that Hurricane Irma caused damage to about $ 1.1 billion, as it fell to the United States Virgin Islands, followed by Hurricane Maria.
Jacobs’ executive vice president, Ron Williams, said that the reconstruction of the territory’s infrastructure is essential for the economic recovery of the territory and its about 90,000 inhabitants.

Director of Disaster Recovery of the United States Virgin Islands Office Adrienne Williams-Octalien hosted Jacobs as a strategic partner in the continuous recovery of the territory.
