JCB has announced its sponsorship of Monster Jam, the traveling monster truck show, and with it has unveiled its own competition truck, the DIGatron, inspired by a backhoe design.
The company, which claims the invention of the backhoe, unleashed its equipment design team to work with Feld Motor Sports to produce the 1,500-horsepower DIGatron. The monster truck is 10.5 feet tall, 17 feet long and weighs 12,000 pounds.
The truck generates its big power with “a supercharger that feeds air and fuel into the engine,” says JCB. “It is powered by methanol fuel, consumed at a rate of three gallons per minute from a specially constructed safety cell.”
The truck was inspired by a backhoe, and its red seat matches the seat color of JCB’s first backhoes.

The truck will be driven by 2023 World Finals Champion Tristan England.

The UK-based company, whose US headquarters are in Savannah, Georgia, sees the partnership as a way to connect with its dealers and customers every year. It will provide equipment like its 457 wheel loader to build Monster Jam tracks.
“The Monster Jam and JCB partnership brings together two long-standing family-owned companies that are committed to delivering the highest value to our customers, including performance and innovation,” said Juliette Feld Grossman, chief operating officer of Feld Entertainment, who produces and presents Monster Jam. shows.
