Wates Construction managing director Mark Tant has left the company after five years at the helm.
His role will be taken on an interim basis by Steffan Battle, former head of the pre-construction group, who has been with Wates for almost 30 years.
Wates would not comment on the reason for Tant’s departure, but said he had been instrumental in the company’s success over the past nine years.
“He made a significant contribution to the development and success of the construction business during this period, and we wish him well for the future,” a spokesman said.
Tant was appointed to lead Wates’ residential work in London in 2014, managing prominent jobs at Wembley for Quintain and the Greenwich Peninsula for Knight Dragon.
Five years later, he took up the newly created position of managing director of Wates Constructionas part of a leadership reshuffle.
This position, reporting to construction group managing director Paul Chandler, saw him take responsibility for overseeing the group’s regional business units.
Prior to that, he served as managing director of Shepherd Construction for almost three years following a 13-year stint in senior roles at Willmott Dixon.
