11 predictions for public contractors under Trump 2.0

The massive changes that come from the Trump administration have interrupted the world markets and have caused many companies to pause in important decisions.

State officials and local levels follow the federal government leadership with similar changes and interruptions, or hope to see what comes next.

There are no absolute at this time. These times are too unique and changes are faster than it would have been possible. But here is 11 predictions about what I think we should wait:

  1. Chaos will remain for many more months, but in the last quarter of 2025, the future will be much clearer and business decision -making will be easier.
  2. Creating jobs may not be up to date with the massive federal employees’ dismissals, so unemployment will be higher than normal.
  3. The number of federal programs that provide funding for the critical needs of the United States (water, clean air, roads, airports, bridges, housing, research, economic development, broadband and ports) will be lower, but critical funding programs will survive.
  4. Many federal activities will be transferred to the states. The most likely goals are education, the parts of the compliance and compliance compliance programs.
  5. Non -profit organizations will be in danger of losing their tax exempt from taxes and many will be audited for political participation and diversity, the efforts of equity and inclusion.
  6. Federal financing previously assigned to colleges and universities will be reduced and will probably stop if there is Tests of DEI programs.
  7. The environmental regulations will be reduced and many will be completely lifted.
  8. Financing for renewable energy projects can be eliminated along with the support of electric buses and fleets.
  9. Public transport agencies will see funding reductions and traffic -oriented development support is likely to be at risk.
  10. Contracting and government hiring will be more examined, but volume will not be reduced. In fact, it is likely to be more outsourced because so many public employees are over.
  11. Federal housing grants will be reduced and funding for rural development could be less.

As the United States government market is the largest market in the world, hiring with private sector companies will remain robust. The need for collaboration, expertise and services in the private sector will increase. To succeed in these changing times, here is my 10 best suggestions for companies that contract with the Government:

  1. The prices will be a critical component of being selected as a government partner. In the past, the selections were usually made based on the best value instead of the lowest price. This will continue to some extent, but a great price variance could easily eliminate the best offering.
  2. Large multiannual contracts will be subject to more scrutiny and there will be an intense review before the renewals.
  3. Certifications for small and minority businesses could be eliminated or reduced. The additional points awarded to the main contractors with local subcontractors will probably increase.
  4. It will be more important for contractors to understand the government structure of each state and the current political environment when it comes to bidding jobs or even presentations to the interested parties.
  5. Government entities of all jurisdictions will be at great risk of budget reductions. Contracting services that provide greater efficiency and require less resources will be very attractive.
  6. Companies with North -American roots will have advantages.
  7. The modernization of technology and artificial intelligence will be highly demanded, but security certifications will be needed.
  8. Public-private collaborations will be more abundant. It is recommended to investors in the private sector to participate -but tax credits could be deleted.
  9. Cybersecurity will be a main concern and funding will be available for security improvements for each type of operational project: water, energy, public services, public buildings and public networks.
  10. The big complicated public projects may require the selection of delivery members before other applications are published. Delivery members can be asked to accept liability for ethical and regulatory supervision along with all other responsibilities of the project.

It is a changing world, so adapting quickly and understanding what is important for public officials is the basic component for the success of government hiring. Thousands of recruitment opportunities will continue to be available throughout the country, because the United States government market will remain the largest market in the world.
