The $21.6 million, 35,418-square-foot facility includes a full-size multi-use gymnasium with pop-up spectator seating, 8,100 square feet of multi-use event space, flexible activity spaces, a commercial teaching kitchen, state-of-the-art locker rooms and a gymnasium for classes.
Outdoor amenities include tennis and pickleball courts, a playground, and meeting spaces. Environmental features such as bioretention basins and porous paver parking areas protect the site’s natural wetlands and vegetation.
Although sleek and modern in appearance, the building’s complex geometry, non-standard angles and seamless material transitions demanded exceptional coordination and craftsmanship.
Built on former marshland, packed aggregate piers were required to stabilize the foundation. When excessive movement occurred in the slab above grade and foundations, the team applied extensive self-leveling techniques to ensure the final product met the owner’s structural integrity requirements and aesthetic expectations.
Off-site prefabrication of plumbing and mechanical piping contributed to overall project efficiency and safety and helped mitigate rapid cost increases for key materials.
