A 6- to 10-inch piece of concrete fell from the overpass after the crash, according to the California Highway Patrol.

A truck carrying a backhoe crashed into an overpass on the 50 Freeway in Rancho Cordova Wednesday morning, dislodging a chunk of concrete, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The unsecured backhoe bucket struck the west shoulder of the Bradshaw Road crossing at about 8:20 a.m. while the semi truck was traveling east on the highway. A 6- to 10-inch piece of concrete came off the 15-foot, 2-inch overpass and a “small amount” of oil spilled from the backhoe onto the underside of the crossing and a vehicle traveling behind the truck, according to a CHP news release.

No one was injured and no lanes were closed following the collision.

Damage is visible at the bottom of the Bradshaw Road crossing over the 50 Freeway in Rancho Cordova after a truck-towed backhoe struck the bridge Wednesday morning. The overpass has a clearance of 15 feet 2 inches.

A Caltrans crew inspected the bridge and determined there was no immediate danger and the damage did not require immediate repair, according to the CHP statement.
