San Francisco-based Swinerton has tapped Ray Haj to be its next chief operating officer, the company announced on January 10. He will succeed former COO David Callis, who was tapped to be the builder’s next CEO the retirement of former CEO Eric Foster after 42 years in the company.

Haj, who originally joined Swinerton Builders in 2001 as a senior programmer, was most recently senior vice president and regional manager of the contractor’s Southern California and Hawaii operations, according to the release.
In addition, the company said Haj was instrumental in managing rapid business growth, expanding self-fulfillment operations in the Southern California region and overseeing expansions into New York and the Southeast region.
“[Haj’s] Enthusiasm for fostering relationships, driving growth and cultivating emerging leaders make him the ideal choice to drive Swinerton as our next COO,” Callis said in the note.
While this is the second C-suite announcement in as many months, the builder has also been busy with more regional leadership moves. Last fall, the contractor tapped new executives and leaders in markets across the country, including Atlanta, the carolinas i Silicon Valley.
