The top young professionals of 2027 working in ENR’s East region not only come from diverse backgrounds in business sectors, but are also diversified across design firms, contracting firms, construction managers, specialist contractors and industry associations. These emerging leaders will continue to shape the industry for years to come.

Winners come from many states in the Eastern Region, which includes Delaware, Maryland, Pennsylvania, Virginia, West Virginia, District of Columbia, New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, Rhode Island, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Vermont and Maine.

Judges evaluated more than 140 entries to choose the region’s top 25 professionals under the age of 40. The judges did not score entries from people employed by their company or where there was a conflict of interest.

This year’s judges were:

-André Barbour, director of diversity and inclusion at NEI General Contracting
-Brian Derr, vice president of infrastructure engineering at The LiRo Group
-Michael Sanio, executive director of the Atlas Initiative for Critical Infrastructure
-Lauren Simone, Director of Learning and Development and Lean Construction at WM Jordan Co.

Selected young professionals will be featured in the February 1, 2027 edition of ENR East, highlighting professional achievements, industry impact and community contributions.
