Our approach at British Offsite enables you to deliver lettable properties faster, tackling the many complexities involved in modern housebuilding.

Ours is a hybrid approach that allows you to combine traditional construction methods with modern construction methods. Take the first steps towards off-site construction or embrace a total revolution in the way you build. It depends on you.

Avoid common construction hazards

The complexity of high-density derelict urban developments, plus the pressure to deliver units to scale within clearly defined design parameters, means that many projects default to a more traditional construction approach.

However, traditional methods leave projects vulnerable to many risks, including labor shortages, supply chain delays, on-site storage and delivery issues. Combined with environmental sustainability commitments and health and safety objectives, they can lead to increased costs and a slower return on investment, as well as general delivery delays. Your next project doesn’t need to be under pressure like this.

Multiple construction advantages

We take critical processes off-site, combining the work of up to five trades in the manufacture of a panel. This eliminates risk while still having full control over the design. You also earn:

  • Acceleration of delivery/general completion
  • Reduction of site waste
  • Reduced on-site inventory (i.e. less breakage/waste)
  • Freedom from labor/skill shortages
  • Better cash flow management
  • Improvement of health and safety management
  • Reduction of noise pollution and disturbances

Our focus in action

Abbey Quay, Barking, is a new urban riverside development in the London Borough of Barking & Dagenham. It has 13 residential blocks ranging from seven to 29 floors high. The six-acre, 1,000-home scheme will be delivered over the next five years and uses our UNisytem solution.

UNisystem is the most advanced light gauge steel panel system on the market. It incorporates a highly flexible set of products capable of meeting all design and architecture needs with precision.

For the superstructure, the Abbey Quay project team used UNipanel, a light gauge steel (LGS) closed panel system. This LGS system comes pre-installed with insulation, doors, windows, ventilation openings, fire protection and facade fixing systems. This is complemented by the use of UNIwall, a closed internal compartmentalization panel from LGS. This is pre-fitted with insulation, doors, MEP and service void battens.

Improved capacity

With the launch of Horizon, our second factory, we can deliver 4,000 homes a year. The robots, mesmerizing behemoths that have multi-jointed mobile “arms” with claws and magnets, are guided in part by sensors and can carry, grab, cut, drill, nail, screw, weld, glue, stuff, spray paint and more. , far more. Our specialized workforce of 130 people works in combination with the robots to meet your exact needs.

Shaun Weston, Managing Director of British Offsite, is a converted robot because he is a passionate housebuilder.

“In fact, you’ll get a home more tailored to you than you could ever imagine and infinitely better made. Your choice of fixtures and surfaces is multiplied by more efficient sourcing, purchasing, delivery and warehousing systems, and the specifications and overall quality is checked at every moment,” he says.

Primer of cloth

British Offsite’s factory operations and its UNisytem range of products are part of an innovative ‘Fabric First’ approach to housebuilding, focused on reducing carbon emissions. “It’s about making the basic structure of a building the priority,” says Shaun Weston.

“Smart construction methods and building materials reduce carbon emissions at source, while the resulting precision products reduce energy use while homes are in operation. UNisystem is good for the buyer of housing and for the planet.
