U.S. Customs and border protection awarded a contract for the construction of border walls to Dickinson, based on ND Fisher Sand & Gravel Co. For $ 309,463,000 to build 27 miles of new border wall in the county of Santa Cruz, Ariz, located within the Tucson sector of CPB. The construction is expected to be in the fall.
The contract is financed by CBP 2021 Funds and the North -American Department of Security Homeland said it will close the openings on the border wall that remains of contracts canceled during the Biden administration. The Secretary of National Security, Kristi Noem, also resigned from the environmental rules for federal construction, including the National Law of Environmental Policy, for another wall project in Texas. This is the fifth resignation signed by Noem for the construction of the border wall. Previously, environmental rules for all wall projects in Arizona and New Mexico were resigned.
The resignation covers the Rio Grande Valley Wall project (9 miles with an additional 8 kilometers in options), which is funded by CBP FY 2021’s appropriations. The Tucson final contract is the final work contract announced earlier this month in Arizona and Nou Mexico and the last of the approved and funded projects with CBP appropriated 2021.
Environmental groups are opposed to the resignation of environmental rules and the efforts of larger border wall.
