In this role, Smith, who has 30 years of experience in the construction industry, will be responsible for implementing and overseeing strategies to improve field efficiency, safety, quality and productivity, according to the release.

Smith has been with Gilbane since 2014 as a construction executive, according to his LinkedIn. Before joining the company, he spent 20 years working for Bethesda, Md.-based Clark Construction in roles ranging from superintendent to project executive, Gilbane said in the release.

During his time at Gilbane, Smith’s project portfolio, according to the release, includes renovations to the National Mall in Washington, DC and M&T Bank Stadiumthe home of the NFL’s Baltimore Ravens.

“Jumanne is among the most capable construction professionals in the industry,” Heidi DeBenedetti, Gilbane’s chief operating officer, said in the release. “Everyone who has worked with him knows that he has the skills and experience to meet all the needs of construction clients. We’re lucky to have him.”

In recent months, Gilbane has made other moves to bolster its executive ranks. In August, he added Anthony Armento as Senior Preconstruction Executive in its Philadelphia office, along with former Lendlease executive Steven Carter as its headquarters new global health and safety director.
