Glencar has won a £32m contract to build a 27,800 sq m industrial warehouse in Kent.

The project, from developer Wrenbridge and investor Bridges Fund Management, will see six new warehouse buildings constructed in a shell shape, with open-plan offices on the first floor.

Construction of the project in Aylesford, which is next to the M20 motorway, is due to start this month and take a year.

Glencar is currently on site to build a warehouse for the partners themselves in Basingstoke and previously delivered a five-unit industrial scheme for Wrenbridge in Dartford.

The company’s chief operating officer, Greg Wright, said: “Repeat business is the best business, and we are delighted to once again be working in partnership with our long-standing and highly valued customer Wrenbridge, and its partner Bridges Fund Management, to deliver it. fantastic new industrial development.”

Wrenbridge associate director Alistair Dunsdon said the scheme was “ideally located in a strategic location alongside the M20”, adding: “We look forward to breaking ground on site in the coming weeks and having these units available for to local, regional and national companies by the summer of 2024”.

This year Glencar also won contracts to build warehouses in Nottingham and Liverpool. In February, the firm, which was ranked 83rd in the CN100 list of leading contractors in 2022, announced it had doubled its turnover, placing it among the UK’s biggest construction firms.
