Graycor taps 33-year veteran as new CEO

Oakland Terrace, Illinois-based Graycor has tapped Dave Wing as the company’s new CEOaccording to a December 3 press release. Prior to his appointment, Wing served as Graycor’s president and chief operating officer for five years.

Wing began working with Graycor as a project engineer in 1991, according to the announcement. During his 33-year tenure, Wing was promoted several times, including to his most recent role of COO. In this role, he focused on short- and long-term strategic planning, developing a talent portfolio and creating strategies to improve management practices and introduce efficiencies.

Wing’s appointment also marks a historically significant milestone for the builder: he is the first CEO who is not a member of the Gray family, which founded the company in 1921. The company’s previous CEO, Mel Gray, started in office in 1971 and held the last service. in 2013, a company PR official told Construction Dive.

“In his new role, Dave will provide direction and leadership in the next chapter of Graycor, maintaining a focus on our people, our standards of performance excellence and our ever-evolving customer partnerships,” he said Matthew Gray, co-president of Graycor, in the statement.

According to the company’s website, Graycor offers construction-at-risk, self-execution and construction design management services. It operates in sectors including education, healthcare, manufacturing, gas infrastructure and corporate construction. According to the statement, the company aims to reach $1 billion in revenue.

Graycor was ranked No. 231 on the Engineering News-Record list 400 best contractors in the country by income It posted revenue of $538.3 million in 2023, according to the ranking.
