Frattalone Companies, Inc., a leading civil construction company that has been in business for over fifty years, provides earthmoving, demolition, underground services and energy services to clients throughout the Midwest.

They understand that staying competitive starts with reducing maintenance costs. That’s why they trust CITGO to provide solutions that help them minimize the hourly cost of operating each of their more than 300 state-of-the-art heavy equipment. With the proven performance of CITGO products, Frattalone moved more than 2.6 cubic meters of earth in 2023.

Kory Kunza, Frattalone’s equipment superintendent, stated before the changeover that they experienced lubrication issues in several areas, particularly with pin wear. After meeting to discuss their equipment, operating environments and lubrication issues, the CITGO team came back with a customized lubrication program.

“They were able to take our grease to their lab, test our existing grease for compatibility and performance. They came back and suggested we use Mystik JT-6 Heavy Duty SynBlend 460. With motor oil, we decided to go with CITGARD 700 Synthetic Blend 10W-30,” said Mr. Kunza.

When a test of the products over several service intervals showed improvements in rust and soot with no change in oil consumption, they decided to implement the program across their entire fleet. When asked about the performance of CITGO’s products, CEO Tony Frattalone stated, “We’re not experiencing the attrition we were in the past. Since we switched, we’ve been nothing but happy with the products we use.”
