MGM Grand Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas has completed a $300 million remodel of 3,969 rooms and suites in its main tower, according to a press release.

Architecture firm Gensler, in collaboration with MGM Resorts Design & Development, designed the remodeled guest rooms and suites, which include bathrooms with “spa-like outdoor showers” with glass enclosures and porcelain finishes, and upgraded minibar units with separate guest refrigerators. Other new in-room features include lighted wardrobes, upgraded blackout curtains and wall-mounted smart TVs.

“MGM Grand has long stood out as one of the Strip’s most iconic resorts, and this remodel marks an ambitious step forward in the resort’s evolution,” MGM Grand president and COO Mike Neubecker said in the statement. “Inspired by our guests’ feedback, we’ve designed rooms that offer what both business and leisure travelers value most, offering a balanced balance of style, comfort and functionality.”

The project also added 111 suites to the hotel’s collection, bringing the total number of suites to 753. Suites now range from 675 square feet to 1,784 square feet, and feature reconfigured floor plans that provide more privacy and versatile spaces for both work and relaxation, according to the release. Bathrooms in the suites were also renovated and now offer double mirrors, quartz counters and upgraded showers.

The new design was “inspired by the glamor and energy of the disco era, embracing the hotel’s vibrant legacy,” according to the statement.

At the same time that the remodeling was unveiled, MGM Grand also debuted several new experiences. These include Netflix Bites, a restaurant inspired by hit Netflix shows; Palm Tree Beach Club, a tropical-inspired club day club by DJ Kygo’s Palm Tree Crew; and The Friends Experience, an interactive attraction designed for fans of iconic TV series.

The resort also featured Freqncy, an immersive residency by dance group Jabbawockeez. MGM Grand’s contemporary Japanese restaurant Morimoto is in the midst of a redesign and menu update, which will be unveiled in late November.

In the third quarter, MGM Resorts International’s net income in Las Vegas decreased 7% year over yearwhich the company attributed to MGM Grand lounge and suite remodeling, as well as declines in RevPAR, table games win percentages and food and beverage revenue.
