The Lego group recently set the installation of the final steel beam for the main production building on its new 1.7 million square meters manufacturing campus in Chesterfield County.

Constructed by a joint company of the General Contractor of Lexington, based on Ky., Based on Gray and Richmond, Va. Anigan, the first Danish United States manufacturing plant is in a 340 hectares site that will eventually total 13 buildings of molding, processing and packaging of operations; offices; and a warehouse of high bays. LEGO claims that production goes to the court to begin in 2027, two years later than was announced earlier at the base of the 2023 project. The published reports cite factors such as the completion of the Lego construction contract and the designations for the design developed by the architect LS3P Associates LTD.

According to Lego’s commitment to the whole company to achieve greenhouse gas emissions by 2050, the new plant is designed to be carbon neutral, with the daily energy needs that coincide with renewable energy systems in place and outside. According to LS3P, the project is designed to comply with the highest possible LEED certification, with functions such as solar panels mounted on the roof, a rainwater recycling plant and select the use of wood instead of steel and concrete structures.

The ceremonial final steel beam, raised in its place on October 1, included a 2.5 -feet Lego Maó tree, a memory of the company’s plans to plant 17 native tree species in all Chesterfield County Parks to minimize the environmental impacts of construction.

According to LEGO, high -tech production equipment of the installation will guarantee that each brick is done with the accuracy of the 1/10 of the width of a hair. This accuracy allows new bricks to fit perfectly with the facts over the past 60 years.

Near Prince George, Va., LEGO has authorized the construction of a regional distribution center of 2 million feet-pipes, planned to be ready simultaneously with the launch of toys production in the Countfield County. The installation of $ 366 million, which received a state grant of $ 2.3 million, provides the total investment of LEGO in the Richmond area to more than $ 1.5 billion.

The Virginia plant will be the second Lego manufacturing facility in America, joining a production complex in Monterrey, Mexico and a distribution center in Fort Worth, Texas.

The tone of the structure completed the new U.S. LEGO headquarters in May. While Lego officially opened its 157,000 -square -foot office space in Boston Bay on May 15, its relocation of Enfield, Conn., Will not be completed until the end of next year.
