CF Industries Holdings, Mitsui & Co. and JERA Americas plan to build the Blue Point Ammonia Complex in Donaldsonville. It will include the ammonia plant, cooling towers and storage and loading facilities to make low-carbon ammonia. Engineering design is by thyssenkrupp Uhde USA LLC and Haldor Topsoe Inc. The Library Street Collective plans to undertake the Stanton Yards Waterfront Cultural Arts redevelopment project. NEW YORK
The City of Niagara Falls plans to develop the Vincent Welch Build-Ready Solar Project. It involves building a solar farm on a 16-acre site that was once the Love Canal Landfill, owned by Hooker Chemical Co., which was the worst chemical waste environmental disaster in U.S. history. The New York State Energy Research and Development Authority has begun the process to determine the feasibility of reclaiming and developing the land. Once a site for redevelopment is identified, the Build-Ready program handles project design, engineering, permitting, grid interconnection review, and development of a benefits package for the host community. Acting as a private developer, NYSERDA negotiates PILOT (payment in lieu of taxes) and community benefit agreements to return these hard-to-reach sites to productive use for renewable energy generation without competing with the private sector. The plan for the Love Canal site involves the implementation of a ballasted solar electric system that uses concrete weights to anchor the structure that holds the solar panels, eliminating the need for poles or pole holes that penetrate the ground, very suitable for contaminated properties like Love. 8/23 The US Bureau of Claims is seeking bidders to perform Boysen Power Plant generator G1 and G2 rewinds. The power plant is located 20 miles south of Thermopolis. The work will include the design, construction and delivery of a working platform to access the generator bores; removal of existing armature windings; supply, install and test new generator armature windings; and equip, install and test new stator cores.
