Award: Additional improvements to the airport road
Value: 445 million dollars
Location: Los Angeles International Airport
Customer: Los Angeles World Airports

From its initial award, a joint venture of Skanska and FlatironDragados has signed an additional contract with Los Angeles World Airports for $445 million in its Airport and Terminal Modernization Program road improvement project, according to a Jan. 2 news release.

The work at Los Angeles International Airport will reconfigure more than 6 kilometers, or nearly 4 miles, of roads. The project will also improve traffic signals and deploy advanced traffic control systems to streamline travel and improve security at the airport, according to the press release.

The additional work is based on employment of $323 million which the joint venture signed in September ahead of the 2028 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles, with a contract worth $868 million.

The original scope of this work includes 4.4 miles of replaced and reconfigured roads along SepĂșlveda Boulevard, which will help separate airport traffic from local traffic.

The project is part of the broader modernization of LAX, according to the press release, and takes place amid a capital improvement program which will amount to a total of 30 billion dollars.

Construction began in July and is expected to be completed in the fourth quarter of 2030.
