Ace Electric secured its largest contract ever with work on Wolfspeed’s $2.5 billion John Palmour Manufacturing Center in Siler City, North Carolina, which was among the largest projects to begin in the Southeast in 2023.

Ace Electric Inc. had a good year in 2023. Increasing revenue, landing their biggest job, increasing their workforce by more than 20%, and providing these employees with innovative internal resources to pursuing his career and staying safe on the job have not only positioned the company for success, they have earned him the title of ENR Southeast’s 2024 Specialty Contractor of the Year.

The 50-year-old company, based in Valdosta, Georgia, reported more than $172 million in revenue in 2023, an increase of nearly 8% year-over-year after a nearly 30% increase in revenue in prior year, based on data from ENR Southeast’s Top Specialty Contractor Rankings.

Family-owned and operated Ace Electric secured a $170.9 million contract through 2023 for electrical work at Wolfspeed’s $2.5 million chip manufacturing plant under construction in Siler City, North Carolina . It is the largest contract in the company’s history and tied for the largest global project. to break ground in the southeast in 2023.

Internally, Ace also made big moves, hiring enough new employees to represent a 21% increase in workforce and establishing Ace University, a workforce development program to mentor new employees and equip existing ones with needed skills to advance your career in the industry. .

The company also implemented safety orientation for field workers as part of Ace University, increasing the staffing of its safety department and adding several workplace safety professionals and regional safety supervisors. Ace’s safety efforts have also paid off, earning the Associated General Contractors of Georgia the Amerson Supervisor Safety Award, given at the company’s offices in Atlanta, Macon and Statesboro, Georgia, as well as its Ace Engineering and Manufacturing Division.

ENR Southeast will take a closer look at the 2023 Ace’s in its Sept. 2 edition, along with the full Top Specialty Contractors rankings, which are accepting submissions through Aug. 5.
