The BST Global Software and Artificial Intelligence Provider, the recent BST AI summit in Palm Beach, FLA., Awarded optimistic views of the attendees on future work processes and capabilities, along with mixed findings of their survey focused on the current state of the AEC companies for the adoption of tools and generative tools.

“Our industry is in the process of transformation, which will increase the underlying business model of the industry and will reimagate the future of work,” said Javier A. Baldor, CEO of BST Global, said to the attendees at Summit, adding: “You do not go wrong: this transformation will happen.”

However, how fluidly companies can transform -is more than an open question.

Quoting a recent McKinsey survey, Baldor said to the audience: “Leaders are actually four times more likely to cite employees preparation as a barrier for adoption of gene ai instead of their own problems with leadership alignment. And only 1% of leaders characterize their releases of genes as matures. This is amazing.”

A new business model is waiting, added Baldor, saying: “Imagine when Gen Ai and other emerging technologies provide productivity gains of 10%, 20%, 30%, 40%and you are still delivering projects significantly. In my opinion, this is a race to the bottom, and a completely unsustainable business model.

“I firmly believe that the future business model of our industry is in a ski or value participation model driven by value,” he added. “It is the only way to make the promise and prize of the AI in our future.”

The results of the survey

To distinguish the general preparation status of the industry, BST was associated with the Technology Committee of the Council of America of the Technology Committee of Engineering Companies to examine the AEC companies on their preparation and efforts of adopting the AI. They also participated in the BST AI + Consortium Consortium Survey, which includes Aecom, Atkinsrealis, Arup, Gensler, Parsons, Ramboll, Statec and WSO.

The result of the survey, the Ai + Data Insights 2025 report by BST Global, showed that, while many companies recognize the importance of AI, a large percentage of them is still in the early stages of adoption and use. For example, on the one hand, 82% of respondents are waiting for a transformation of the Ai industry, with 78% of respondents who expect this to happen in five years.

At the same time, the survey found that “only about 20% of respondents claimed preparation at a mature or advanced level, with a majority indicating that their companies are still in the pilot or exploration phase”.

In addition, the report states that “almost all respondents (91%) cited” identify cases of business value “or” demonstrate business value “as a higher barrier for AI adoption.”

Adoption challenges

At the summit, Nasrine Tomasi, the head of Mott Macdonald’s AI, addressed the subject of the “Ia responsible” with the perspective of the firm’s experience with the IA in recent years.

At the beginning of Mott Macdonald’s process to adopt AI tools, he said: “I realized that many people were very worried about this AI thing.

At the same time, Tomasi says, other employees were excited about the AI, which pushed the question of “how we can accelerate (AI)? We realized that we could not take advantage of the opportunity without managing the risk. So we decided to focus on the risk component, achieving this risk to really work on the side of things.”

“For business value, we had to decide where we wanted to place ourselves in the AEC sectors,” he said. “What does it mean for our workforce and our strategy when it comes to people?”

Baldor states that the number of questions that companies will have to ask about their own efforts to adopt the AI.

“There are so many cases of use and possibilities with these super agents to transform the delivery of the project and even the workplace of the future where humans will work perfectly with these super agents and robots to improve the safety of the workplace and the results of the project,” he says. “Not only is it possible, but it comes in a great way.”
