Through a career of more than 30 years and more than 3,000 projects, Guoming Lin has established itself as a geotechnical engineer in projects at its base in Savannah, Georgia, so much so much that it is known as “Dr. Dirt.”
For decades of impact on the work of the AEC sector in the region and its efforts to build the next generation of engineers, the Vice President and Senior Consultant of Terracon has been appointed to receive the AR Southeast 2025 Legacy Award.

Going to Savannah in the early 1990’s as a geotechnical guard consultant for the main ports projects developed by the owner Georgia Ports Authority, he also regularly works on projects for energy, manufacture, sports facilities, hospitality, public works, , airports, federal facilities and more.
Much of his tent work has been completed for the Authority Ports de Savannah, the fourth largest American port and with faster growth, where the terminals are in low marshy areas with underlying gentle marine deposits. In the last 30 more years, Lin has supported all major projects there, managing and supervising geotechnical explorations in hundreds of projects. He has consulted all the robberies for the new construction, as well as updates or improvements, and has led a team of geotechnical engineers that has carried out many pile load test programs, managed the stability of slope for dredging and He has devised various soil improvement technologies.
Other major projects include the LNG terminal of the island of Kinder Morgan Elba, where he has worked on various projects since his recommendation in 2001, included as a geotechnical engineer for the last three phases of his expansion. Lin was also essential in geotechnical and material tests for the Hyundai Motor Group Motor Group, the Automatic Giant $ 10 Million Campus near Savannah.

No matter how productive it is, Lin constantly devotes time to supporting colleagues at all levels and has published more than 20 works in journals and professional procedures. He is also an active member of the American Society of Civil Engineers and the Deep Foundation Institute. Outside of his engineering roles, Lin also supports the community’s needs in the fundraising for Habitat for Humanity, United Way and Ronald McDonald House Charities.
