DEMOLITION TOUR

Turnover grew 6.5 percent last year at Morrisroe Demolition, the company formerly known as Cantillon, according to annual results released in August. The demolition and groundworks specialist made a pre-tax profit of £1.3m on revenue of £34.6m in the year to 31 October 2022. Company director Brian Morrisroe said: “A strong portfolio, including a significant volume of projects delivered with repeat order projects, has brought trade back to pre-pandemic levels”

Construction output fell slightly in August compared to July, the latest CIPS/PMI data showed. Despite expansions in civil engineering and commercial works such as office refurbishments, the decline in new orders across all categories was the worst fall since May 2020.

Kent County Council is to buy and lease £500 million worth of construction equipment, divided into six lots. The deadline for submitting offers is October 27.

VARIABLE INFLATION

Economic volatility could mean different inflation rates across the country, Gleeds notes in its latest quarterly forecast. The highest inflation for the whole of 2023 is forecast in the Northeast.
