The Ukrainian manufacturer of armored equipment “UKR ARMO TECH” has developed and presented the UAT-SPIDER armored backhoe. It has already passed the necessary tests, has been codified by the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, is ready for mass production and delivery to the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
According to the company, the new engineering machine is capable of performing a number of engineering and logistics tasks to support units of the Defense Forces of Ukraine. These include the provision of positions and command posts, as well as the construction and restoration of military roads.

At the same time, the backhoe of “UKR ARMO TECH” has various modifications for different tasks, and if necessary, it can be equipped with larger front wheels. It should be noted that the UAT-SPIDER is equipped with a reinforced chassis.
The cab of the backhoe is armored according to STANAG 4569 Level 1, that is, it protects against conventional bullets of caliber 7.62×51-mm and 5.56×45-mm, as well as against the explosion of grenades, submunitions and anti-personnel mines. In addition, the main components and assemblies of the machine have been reinforced, such as the engine, which is covered by a grill made of armored material.
The UAT-SPIDER armored backhoe has a nominal lifting capacity of 3.2 tons and a maximum speed of 38 km/h. According to the manufacturer, this machine has good mobility and can work effectively in small spaces.
Defense Express notes that armored vehicles, armored personnel carriers, UGVs and drones in general are attracting more attention from both the public and manufacturers. At the same time, the Defense Forces of Ukraine, which are in a state of war between Russia and Ukraine, need engineering equipment that can facilitate the development of tasks assigned to the military.
It should be noted that equipment used in regions close to the front or in places where unexploded ordnance and ammunition remain may be exposed to significant risks of damage. In view of this, the improved protection and armor helps both protect the crew and increase the survivability of the vehicle/machine as a whole.
