Award: DFW International Terminal F Concourse and Skylink Station
value: 855 million dollars
Location: Dallas, Texas
Customer: Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport

A group representing some of the nation’s largest contractors has secured a contract to build Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport’s $855 million Terminal F Concourse and Skylink Station project.

The Innovation Next+ design and construction team will build a new dual-carriage entrance building, which means planes will be able to access it from both sides. The structure will span nearly 400,000 square feet and include a station for the airport’s Skylink rail system. It will be the airport’s sixth terminal.

Innovation Next+ is led by Atlanta-based Archer Western Construction, a subsidiary of Chicago-based Walsh Construction.

Other contractors on the team include New York City-based Turner Construction, builders HJ Russell & Co. and Atlanta-based Carcon Industries and Dallas-based Phillips|May. The architectural firms PGAL, Gensler and Muller2 complete the design team.

DFW International is currently celebrating its 50th anniversary and ranks as the second busiest airport in North America by passenger traffic, according to Airports Council International. In 2022, more than 73 million people traveled through the facility, which serves as a hub for American Airlines, the largest carrier in the US.

The concourse and Skylink station are part of the larger $1.63 billion expansion of Terminal F, which began but was put on hold when COVID-19 hit, and includes 15 new gates. Other major terminal projects are also in the works at the airport, among them the $2.72 billion expansion of the central terminal areaTerminal C, Terminal A pier extensions and road improvements.

Last year, DFW Airport General Manager Sean Donohue said Terminal C “desperately needs to be rebuilt,” according to WFAA TV Dallas-Forth Worth.

Innovation Next+ expects to begin construction on the Terminal F concourse in June. The project is scheduled to end in the second quarter of 2027.
