While the Populous design firm only announced last week that he had acquired Fentress Architects, based on Denver, the Kansas City company, Mo.
“Our story together goes back to 10 or 12 years,” recalls Bruce Miller, a village CEO. “We had conversations, but at that time it didn’t work.
The acquisition will preserve fentress architects within populous such as Fentress Studios, a populated company. Curtis Fentress, co -founder and director of the architect and its President and Director Agatha Kessler will join the Poblada Global Holdings Board and retain his roles at Fentress’s studies. “But apart from the fact that it is a business as usual,” says Miller.
Companies have chosen not to disseminate the financial terms of the agreement.

“Everyone is excited to go to Populous,” says Curtis Fentress. “We can charge the world of aviation as one. [for us] To make an innovative and exciting new design. “”
Populous Ranks at 57 number on the list of Top 500 Design Companies Enr 2025. Fentress is at number 290.
A strong aviation market
This combination of design companies comes at a time when the global aviation market is expanding and both companies saw that opportunities grew beyond what could be handled alone, says Miller. “We see a very strong American region market and a strong global market and, from my point of view, we will tackle both.”

“I see the same,” he agrees with Fentress. “Everyone brings to the sky more than before … We are seeing that numbers go spectacularly. In the United States they have to renew the systems to direct the traffic to airports, to space more aircraft because there is so much traffic. There is a need for expansion of doors at almost every airport in America.”
Miller also hopes that Congress will continue to fund air security measures and updates, despite recent interruptions from the federal aviation administration and possible budget cuts. “What we are seeing in the United States is when it comes to the security of North -Americans, Congress will still put money to do these things. They will have money for the radar system that needs a review in the United States”
A single practice
The reaction of the customer’s customers to the acquisition has been largely positive, according to Miller and Fentress. “For our current customers, they can expect continuity and will see, but the improvement of the services we offer,” says Miller.
“We contacted all our customers as we went through this transition and they are happy that we have joined with populous and that they are a much larger company; it allows us more power, as it was,” says Fentress.
For now, as companies order receiving, Miller claims that different projects can list Fentress or Populous as a designer or a combination of the two. But it is a unique practice, he adds. “We are now a company, you will not see us pursuing work separately. As we approach projects as a company, we will look for the best opportunity with the best people as we are in one practice together.”
Fentress agrees. “It’s really an opportunity to return to ancient adage: no one is as smart as we all.”
