The Canada Nuclear Waste Management Organization, which is in charge of long-term management of the country used in the country, Picked has selected companies to plan, design, build and manage a deep geological deposit in northwest of Ontario, with an initial cost of $ 3.2 billion.

It will be the first fuel storage place in the country.

The team includes WSP based in Montreal for Design and Engineering; Kiewit Canada unit for land construction; Mississauga, based in Ontario, Hatch Ltd. for the management of the underground mine and the management of waste rocks and other works; Thyssen Mining Construction of Canada Ltd. in Saskatchewan to manage the design of the construction of underground mines and the sinking of three axes in the tank. and Kinectrics Inc., based in Toronto, for the management of nuclear operations, supervision and quality guarantee.

The place of the tribal land deposit 200 kilometers northwest of the upper lake was chosen last year after a search for almost 15 years.

The team will use the integrated project delivery model, according to WSP. The design will be completed in 2028, with the construction that will begin in 2033 after the revision of the Canadian and indigenous regulators and the launch of the operation in 2045. The tank will be built to a depth of 2,100 feet and 2,600 feet under natural barriers and designed to contain and isolate fuel used.

Nuclear energy generators of Canada Hydro-Québec created the Nuclear Energy Generators of Canada and the new Brunswick Power to find a long-term spent fuel tank to replace the current temporary storage in research and research sites.

“This project will solve an environmental problem and support the goals of Canada’s climate change,” said Laurie Swami’s President and Director General of Lucre.
