Southall, who is responsible for the mechanical department in aviation and the federal group of the firm, runs a team of 20 people who work for various customers and types of large project. It includes command of naval facilities engineering systems, the United States Army Engineers, the Capitol architect, as well as the work of the company in design and construction of a dry wharf installation of more than $ 1 billion.
“It’s a great opportunity to serve and really help our customers solve their challenges,” says Southall. “We from the buildings to the support facilities by the sea for the Marina and we only see a complete range of different types of projects. It keeps it interesting.”
Southall must also adapt to the priorities of the presidential administrations. We just try to keep us flexible. “
He says flexibility requires “a little fast on the feet” as the priorities change. “Those who come with their own changes and challenges. We continue to work,” says Southall. Southall’s leadership also extends beyond his company. He has been an active member of Roanoke Ashrae’s chapter, performing two president’s terms and now exercises the Governing Council of the Chapter.
Southall also serves his community. In addition to his three years as chairman of the property committee of his Church, which helped to prepare for various reforms. Avid cyclist, he trained with a group of collaborators for Ironman 70.3, helping to expand and improve office connections.
“I have always tried to be, both professionally and otherwise, only a kind of leadership of servants that sought to build others … to achieve group success,” he says.
