Each year, ENR Southwest ranks the largest projects to begin construction in the past year in the states of Arizona, Nevada and New Mexico.

For this ranking, ENR Southwest uses a variety of sources, including information from the Dodge Construction Network, as well as news reports from the Engineering News-Record and other media publications. If your company started construction on a major project of $200 million or more in 2023, it’s not too late to let us know so we can add it to the Top Starts rankings this year. To do so, please email me, Scott Judy, at judys@enr.com.

As we finalize this ranking, we reach out to contractors and design firms in the Southwest to get any information they have about major projects, with a total project cost of $200 million or more, that they participated in construction that began in 2023.

Scott Judy is deputy editor of Regions and publisher of ENR Southeast, one of the 10 regional publications of the Engineering News-Record. His roughly 27 years as a construction journalist began with an 11-year stint covering construction projects in the Midwest. In 2000, Judy helped launch the publication now known as ENR Southeast. He often delves into controversial aspects of the construction industry, such as bankruptcies and fatal accidents, and wishes he never had to cover another accident, but suspects he will.
