To ensure the USA Soccer National Training Center was completed before the 2026 World Cup, the project team had to accelerate delivery. A progressive maximum guaranteed price approach allowed design and construction activities to overlap and allowed work to start earlier, speeding up the project by six months.

The $203 million project scope included the development of 123 hectares on a 200-acre property, anchored by a 210,000-square-foot central building with dining, strength and conditioning and sports medicine spaces, as well as locker rooms, conference rooms and offices for more than 350 employees. Other amenities include a 115,000 square meter indoor practice facility, a 20,000 square meter field building and a 7,800 square meter support locker building. Throughout the site there are 19 playing areas, 13 natural grass pitches, two artificial grass pitches, two sand pitches and two covered surfaces, as well as over 21,000 trees, plants and shrubs.

To properly serve the 27 national teams, the facility needed accessible building features that could accommodate athletes, coaches, staff and visitors in a variety of spaces. This required a strong focus on floor transitions, ADA operators, and ADA-specific bathrooms and locker rooms. The large number of floor and slab depressions required coordinating varying floor thicknesses while maintaining smooth transitions between finished spaces. This layout and quality control exercise was necessary throughout the building, in foundations and slab above ground.

Drones flew over the site weekly, and the footage fed a virtual dig board that mapped the underground utilities of a campus with multiple work zones at once. Overlaying the drone data on the building models allowed the team to verify elevations and tracking classification as it happened.

The team also deployed a digital as-built system that allowed workers to scan a QR code to access utility locations in real-time while displaying their own position on site, which proved effective in tracking both utilities and installed site services, including field irrigation and temporary power.

The campus was completed in April 2026, under budget and ahead of schedule, at a construction cost of $203 million.
