CASE Construction Equipment says it’s reclaiming its “Construction King” moniker with the launch of 35 construction machines at CONEXPO. Among these product launches are five new backhoe models for the North American market, designed to provide more complete and diverse backhoe options to businesses in a wider spectrum of markets, including landscaping, rental, agriculture and utilities .
Two models are immediately available: the BOX Utility Plus and the BOX Center pivot 580SV Construction King. Three additional models will arrive BOX distributors later in 2023: The BOX 580SV Construction King side shift, and two BOX 695SV Construction King models: one with center pivot and one with side shift.
“The BOX The backhoe was the original two-in-one machine, and 65 years later we’re experiencing workforce challenges and more diverse workplace needs, all with a focus on efficiency, which is driving a true revolution for the market of the backhoe,” says George MacIntyre. product manager, CASE Construction Equipment. “Once the hero of the owner/operator, we now offer even more backhoe options that make these machines extremely attractive to companies that have trouble finding qualified operators and could benefit from lower costs of ownership and d ‘exploitation of having all this functionality in a single machine’.
The two new models are now available in the US market, adding to the existing line of BOX The backhoes of the N series are the BOX Utility Plus and the BOX Center pivot 580SV Construction King.
All new BOX Utility Plus delivers full-size backhoe performance in an efficient platform that’s easy to own, easy to maintain and easy on the bottom. This new 74 horsepower machine offers a large cab with excellent sight lines to all work areas, extreme ease of service with a maintenance-free emissions system (DPF-free and DEF-free) and easy controls (including the option of pilot or mechanic). Mechanical controls are offered for more experienced operators who like that traditional backhoe “feel”, while pilot controls are available for rental companies and contractors with less experienced operators.
“You might call it an entry-level machine, but it performs and offers options like a full-size backhoe,” says MacIntyre. “We built it so you can focus on simplicity, ideal for rental and business applications where it’s not a daily production tool, but also committed to options like the Extendahoe and accessory performance through a one-way auxiliary hydraulic system on the dipper for companies that want to use this machine for more. It is designed to be versatile and allow equipment owners to build from a simple basic model.”
All new BOX 580SV Construction King brings a tool carrier style front end to the BOX Line of backhoe loaders in North America, designed for companies that use the loader end of their backhoe loader as a primary material handler: loading and unloading pallets, moving pipes and other materials clustered around the yard. Add a 4-in-1 bucket, a 6-in-1 bucket or any of the countless accessories available for BOX Backhoes make it a robust multipurpose jobsite solution and a hydraulic quick coupler makes it easy. The new center pivot model is immediately available in the US market, and BOX will launch a side-scrolling model later in 2023.
“At 97 horsepower, the BOX The 580SV Construction King is a simple yet robust addition to any backhoe fleet and, like the Utility Plus, can be optioned for a more premium backhoe experience with features like Extendahoe and Auto-Ride Control,” says MacIntyre.
The new sideshift model, available in late 2023, will offer even greater flexibility and performance on the workplace in tight spaces. The BOX The sideshift 580SV Construction King will feature in-line vertical stabilizers for offset digging and work in applications where operators must directly face structures or take up less space (such as on highway utility work ).
“The combination of in-line stabilizers and a side-to-side backhoe digging boom allows operators to stand directly against buildings and structures, and takes up even less space in on-road applications with stabilizers that operate within the footprint of the machine.” explains MacIntryre.
“With the introduction of these new machines, combined with our existing line of N-Series backhoes, we are offering a truly diverse portfolio of backhoe machines for contractors and businesses of all sizes in North America.”
More variety and versatility will arrive in the US market in 2023
After this year, BOX will present two BOX 695SV Construction King Models: One center pivot model and one side shift model. The 695SV Construction King is a larger, more powerful backhoe with four directional wheels and the same size tires. Four-wheel steering and large tires make it an ideal machine for loading operations, while offering the versatility to change loader and backhoe attachments. It also features parallel lift tool carrier style loading arms for more intensive material handling operations.
“It’s perfect for municipalities and larger construction sites that need to efficiently perform both loader and backhoe operations,” says MacIntyre. “As these new models hit the market, BOX will have one of the largest and most diverse backhoe offerings in the industry, all backed by a North American dealer network that has more backhoe experience than anyone else.”
The release timing for the 695SV Construction King models will be shared later in 2023.
