Shimmick
Shimmick is building the North San Diego City Pure Water Facility, which will use advanced treatment processes to produce up to 30 million gallons of purified water per day from recycled water.
ENR West has selected Shimmick as the 2026 California Contractor of the Year, recognizing the company’s growth, expanded self-execution capabilities and major infrastructure work in the West.
Shimmick’s regional revenue rose 5% in 2025 to $365.27 million, up from $347.82 million, as the contractor expanded its water, transportation and energy portfolio.
The company also launched its wholly-owned electric subsidiary, Axia Electric LLC, to strengthen its capabilities in transportation electrification, grid modernization, utility upgrades and energy resilience.
Major awards included more than $388 million in the West region, including a $48 million Renton Transit Center project in Washington, a $51 million Bellota Weir Modifications project in Stockton, California, and a $116 million project in Modesto, California.
Other notable work included the Mission 301 Perimeter Pile Upgrade Project, which received the AGC of California Heavy Civil Constructor Award, and the Bollinger Canyon – Iron Horse Trail Overcrossing project, which won an award from the California Transportation Foundation.
The company supported its growth with executive hires, a strong internship program, workforce development, expanded partnerships with small businesses and operational improvements.
