John Zook Kauffman Jr., 77, of El Ray Street, Allensville, died Wednesday, November 22, 2023, at home. He was born on June 17, 1946 in Belleville to John Z. Kauffman Sr. and Lena (Kurtz) Kauffman who preceded him in death.

On October 24, 1967, he married Ella Mae (Hostetler) Kauffman. Mrs. Kauffman survives at home.

He is survived by his sons, John Z. Kauffman III and his spouse Schrell (Groff); Maria (Kauffman) Groff; Kenneth Kauffman and his partner Alana Shissler; David Kauffman and his spouse Bobbi Jo (Palko); Kelvin Kauffman and spouse Mary Beth (Zook); Karen (Kauffman) Hooper and her spouse Samuel; 18 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; a brother, Norman Kauffman of Mayfield, Ky.; two sisters, Julia (Kauffman) Miller of Mattawana; Elsie (Kauffman) King and spouse Fred of Allensville; sister-in-law, Elsie (Hostetler) Kauffman of Belleville; and a brother-in-law, Bennie Swarey of Mill Creek.

John was preceded in death by a daughter, Mary Joy; a son, Robert Lynn; a brother, Ivan Kauffman and three sisters, Bertha (Kauffman) Swarey, Mary Ruth Kauffman and Orpha Joyce Kauffman, as well as a brother-in-law, Clyde Miller and a sister-in-law Mary (King) Kauffman.

John served two years on the 1W duty at Venice Hospital in Florida. He worked many different types of jobs including farming, being a salesman, masonry and retired from Sam’s Backhoe Service. In recent years, he made many friends as an Amish taxi driver.

He was a member of Beth-El Mennonite Church. John enjoyed fishing, woodworking and spending time with his family. He will always be known for his great sense of humor.

His funeral will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, November 24, 2023 at Beth-El Mennonite Church with Roy Groff, Wesley King, Keith Martin and Foster King officiating. Burial will be private at the convenience of the family in Locust Grove Cemetery.

Arrangements are under the care of Henderson Funeral Home, Belleville, PA. Online condolences may be offered at www.hendersonfuneralhomes.net.
