Jacobs Engineering Group designed Intel’s $5 billion Fab 52 plant in Chandler, Arizona.
ENR Mountain States and Southwest has selected Jacobs as the 2026 Southwest Design Firm of the Year. Companies of the Year are chosen by ENR editors based on a carefully selected pool of finalists. Factors include regional revenue, new initiatives, current projects, community and industry contributions and other considerations. ENR’s Southwest region includes Arizona, Nevada and New Mexico.
Large-scale projects led by Jacobs’ Arizona offices are reshaping the regional construction landscape. In Chandler, Arizona, Jacobs’ Fab 52 project with Hoffman Construction is the largest semiconductor manufacturing facility Intel has built to date, providing more than 2.9 million square feet of total space for advanced semiconductor manufacturing. Fab 52 was awarded Project of the Year and Safety Excellence honors at ENR’s Best Project Awards event in New York City on March 26, 2026.
In Sheep Springs, NM, Jacobs is the design and construction firm for the US Bureau of Reclamation’s $267 million San Juan Lateral Water Treatment Plant. The plant was one of the region’s top projects started in 2025, and construction is expected to be completed in 2028. Jacobs will handle O&M for 12-24 months after construction, then turn the plant over to the Navajo Nation and Navajo Tribal Utility Authority in 2030.
A profile of Jacobs will appear in the June 22 print issue of ENR Mountain States and Southwest, which will also include our annual ranking of the best design firms in the eight-state region of Arizona, Colorado, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, New Mexico, Utah and Wyoming.
To be included in this year’s rankings, companies must complete a survey by May 11 at this link, where readers can also view information on all of ENR’s regional lists, including top contractors.
