A joint Page and LMN company is designing the redevelopment of $ 1.6 million from the Austin Convention Center in Texas, with a joint company of Je Dunn and Turner Construction as a construction manager. The demolition of the 1.4 million feet is underway. The Convention Center is reopened by the end of 2028.
The vertically oriented design breaks down the footprint in six segments, with the aim of restoring urban roads. The project presents a series of blocks designed to improve pedestrian and vehicle connectivity. The exhibition halls and the loading docks will move below the degree to restore the city network and create spaces for outdoor event.
“The Vertical Convention Center will open the city’s network, improve pedestrian connections and take advantage of Austin’s inner culture,” says Leonardo da Costa, director of LMN.
A “pasoo” will link the city center of Waller Creek and Waterloo Greenway. The project will expand a rental space of 365,000 square meters to 620,000 square meters, including 70,000 square meters of outdoor areas such as outdoor terraces and public squares with interior connections. The Convention Center project aims to be the first zero carbon conventions center in the world, aimed at the zero carbon certification of the Institut de Living Futures International with all electric cuisine and a air conditioning system. The design also incorporates recovered materials, massive wooden and concrete -concrete carbon ceiling structures.
