The new Miami Planned Supertall Tower has received the approval of the Federal Aviation Administration to exceed 1,049 feet, the maximum height allowed for the city’s buildings.

Located in a place of 2.5 hectares in 1201 Brickell Bay Drive, the mixed tower of 1.7 million feet planned for the headquarters of Citadel, a multinational coverage and financial services company led by financier Kenneth Griffin. Citadel is developing the property with a New York -related body. The Foster + Partners designed for 62 -story members will contain more than 1.4 million square meters of offices, a 212 -room hotel that occupies the upper levels, meal restaurants, dance room and event space and other features, all covered by an illuminated crown and a platform on the upper floor.

The anchor of the tower will be five levels of space of low and podium. Subsequent phases call for an additional office space, residential units and a parking lot. A continuous public will be integrated on the eastern edge of the property.

Although the construction is scheduled to begin by the end of this year, according to local media, according to reports, no contractor has been named yet. The FAA application of the Citadel identified the need for three tower cranes almost 1,300 feet high, according to the most approved construction structures in Miami’s history. The cranes must be installed this fall along the east, west and south of the property.

Other announced members of the project team are AAI Architects, PC, Architect of Record; Thornton Tomasetti, structural and resilience engineer; Lange, Geotechnical Engineer; Kimley-Horn and associates, civil engineer and traffic; Cosentini Associattes, Mep Systems; and field operations, landscape architecture.

Bought by Griffin for more than $ 360 million by 2022, the site has been the focus of numerous redevelopment proposals by several owners from their last large structures – a hotel complex and apartments – were devastated in the early 1970’s.
