An office in Friedrichshafen, Germany, was the “change of play” that Georgia’s general contractors, based in Georgia, needed to climb business as a full service contractor, at home and abroad, says Richard Tim Evans, founder and president of the firm, calling the investment a “great -time game.”
Evans was in his early 1940’s and a single father of two children, RT and Sarah, when he started the company in 2001: “He didn’t have much, but he would have helped other companies to grow,” he says. When he reached the 2008 recession, the United States economy was “absolutely dead”, says Evans. However, abroad, Evans’s “very small” German team, led by Christian Hersacher, a senior vice president, saw a constant business flow with European manufacturers seeking to invest in the United States.
The pre -construction, project development, general recruitment and construction services for foreign investors have become a badge of Evans growth, with $ 2.15 billion in regional income and $ 2.3 billion in general revenue reported last year. Evans says the work has sharpened its ability to manage the increasingly complex project needs of advanced technology manufacturing.
“They come here, set up a store and move [advanced manufacturing] Equipment from all over the world and we are right there, “says RT Evans, president and CEO, who succeeded his father as the company’s leader in 2021. Sarah Rothwein, daughter of the founder, oversees pre -construction and marketing as a senior vice president.
RT adds: “Putting it together on the ground is just a treasure treasure in what you learn, what you see and the people you interact with.”
Growing from earth
Including its Alpharetta headquarters, Ga., Evans General Contractors has nine offices in Georgia, Texas, Florida, South Carolina and North Carolina, as well as in its German office, with a count of about 550 employees.
Recent notable projects of the company include the redevelopment of the Georgia Steamship terminal for the Ports de Georgia authority; A 350,000 -square -foot manufacturing facility for the Argecher Avió (take -off and landing of electric vehicles) in Covington, Ga.; and a battery manufacturing campus for BMW. The company also recently received the second phase of a design design installment from the first floor of Arglass glass containers at 75 hectares in Valdosta, Ga.
“Very complicated process, not often done in the United States, but we have to do the first phase, and we are fortunate to do the second phase,” says RT about Arglass. “Another very difficult job.”
However, Evans has had its challenges. The company claims that it is currently seeing an increase in revenue generation through advanced technology and manufacturing markets with demand for production plant projects, processing facilities and data centers.
“We have been working diligently for many years to enter data centers, but in the last three to four years they have been very successful for us,” says RT, who added that last year it was a particularly leading year. “We have converted several complex data centers, but we were also awarded some very large data centers and there are these large AI type data centers, which are the new hot element of the news right now.”
“When you spend a year with someone before building anything, you develop relationships, trust and confidence.”

Evans also specializes in distribution and logistics facilities, foods and drinks and life sciences. The company says that it is appreciating the diversified delivery models between its customers and designed value solutions that they take advantage of in virtual design and the construction and construction of information technology in addition to the management services of the supply chain and contract management.
Corey Lemming, a Senior Vice President of Advanced Technology, appointed Evans Design Design Design to the DC Blox (CLS) CABS Diable Station in Myrtle Beach, SC, as an example of how advanced technological projects have achieved their current success at the data center market. This 15 megawatt facility, located in the International Technology and Aerospace Park (ITAP), was opened in October 2023. The company announced in July that it plans to build a second Landing Station campus in Palm Coast, FLA.
“As you know, Atlanta has appeared as the data center market number 1 or number 2 in the last 48 months, and we are a large part,” says Lemming. “We have $ 2 billion to $ 3 billion from Data Center and Artificial Intelligence Infrastructure in Atlanta.”
Hersacher claims that Evans’s portfolio in recent years has also included a wide range of electrification projects in the manufacturing space.
Adds: “Literally we have touched all possible industries [that’s] go electric. It starts with Automotive, BMW, obviously, as a flagship project. In parallel, we have completed this year Archer Aviation. So the electrification of things was really for manufacturing in recent years, very shocking and very interesting. And with that comes a wide variety of suppliers, so we are involved on the OEM side. “”

Culture of the construction company
Tim Evans, growing the portfolio of Evans, Tim Evans says that his approach to connecting with people and prioritizing relationships on benefits has helped the company’s reputation as a trusting contracting partner. The company does not make any construction hiring, but its strong regional relationships with subcontractors and its specialty of design design have guaranteed that it can deliver what customers need and stay flexible.
“The thing is, when you spend a year with someone, before building anything, develop relationships, trust and confidence,” says Tim Evans.
RT Evans adds that the preference of the signature for communication and collaboration has also helped the company to browse the challenges of the ongoing labor shortages of the industry.
“You just have to talk to everyone early,” he adds. “If you have a great job, you have to pressure the subcontract market, the supplier market, the designer market to ensure -you know there is a great job we are following.”
A decentralized control structure among the leaders of Evans’ business lines also allows a level of autonomy to direct and make decisions rapidly.
“Because at the end of the day everyone wants to have autonomy. They want to be professionals who are recognized as capable of working [their] Field, and this has created a lot of growth for us, “says RT.
This structure has also instilled a culture of continuous improvement in Evans employees. The company claims that it has monthly training programs for all associates on security, specific training of the workplace and leadership development to develop the next generation.
“It is where we take someone who identifies that they show many attributes to the company, but also outside the company, with volunteering,” says RT, explaining that Evans has an initiative in the entire company in which each of their offices must select a profit of their option to support through the Evans Silver Linings Foundation, established in 2009. Families, to communications families, communications communications communications. and support to veterans.
Last year, it was announced that the Allen E. Paulson stadium, the seat of the South Georgia football team, will be renamed “Allen E. Paulson Stadium to Evans Family Field” after a $ 3 million donation from the Evans family.

Focus -vos in the future
As Evans seeks to expand its footprint, the company says it is focused on innovation and having a seat on the table as technology continues to develop.
“More than anything, Evans seeks the following challenge. This is one of the things that makes us different; we are actually more attracted and prospering in the first unique and unique projects,” says Hersacher. “We are not so excited about the creation of the same buildings over and over. We do a little of this, but it takes a lot of effort and perseverance and grain to help a developer or client for many years present a concept to find the land, negotiate incentives, achieve power over any necessary means and, you know, develop various record plans to make numbers work.”
Lemming says that Evans is exploring the possibility of creating transmission and power sources for data centers.
He adds: “It’s only a matter of time before building energy generation on a data center campus; this will be very unique to us. So we prepare for us to produce energy, it’s only a matter of time.”
With more and more complex projects in the construction space, Hersacher believes that the interest in construction between the next generation reigns.
“We are looking for challenging projects and I think this is also very attractive to young people. You are facing -constantly in new challenges, with new exciting projects,” he says. “And I think especially for people who think of construction, they usually do not think of avant-garde technology. They think of dirt and concrete and steel. But it is more. We create environments for tomorrow, where tomorrow’s technology is built and … what we offer is the interaction with those people who basically build our world tomorrow, if we will work with them, in the hand of solving them, in the hand of solving them, tomorrow.
According to RT, it is the firm’s hand focus to work with its customers behind many of the contractors.
“This is to keep your word, do things well, and this involves many great derivations, many great collaborations, many great relationships,” says RT. “And those who have taken us to where we are.”
