The 60 -year -old twin drawings that cover the Indian River were replaced by fixed fixed bridges to support increasing transport demands, eliminate bridge -related delays, and improve security and resilience throughout this vital hallway that serves at the Kennedy space center, the Spatial Force Station of the Cape Cape and Commercial Space Operations.
The project required careful coordination with various agencies due to its proximity to launch sensitive environmental facilities and areas. A variation in FAA’s height restrictions allowed the team to use a larger crane for reach locations, eliminating the need for splicing stack and reduction of lifting count, which significantly improved both efficiency and workplace safety.
The team also used Jacking methods instead of pre -stamping and designing stamp slabs to facilitate disappearance without the need for traditional chest cells. These innovations minimized underwater activity, reduction of environmental impact and accelerated critical route tasks.
The seafront and engineering teams collaborated closely with the Florida Department of Transport, NASA and other project partners. Although it is not a design design project, Orion engineering team played a key role, designing the alternative maintenance of traffic plans and construction phase strategies. This included adding temporary pavement and implementing strategic lane changes to safely maintain traffic flow while accelerating access to construction activities.
