A Ferrovial Construcció worker has died after a collision with a passenger bus at Heathrow Airport.
The man, in his 60s, died in hospital last Thursday (June 15) following the incident at the West London Aviation Center two days earlier.
Ferrovial said in a statement: “It is with great sadness that we can confirm that a Ferrovial Construction employee working at Heathrow Airport has died following a road traffic collision which took place in the early hours of June 13.
“We are working with Heathrow to fully understand the circumstances of the collision and are supporting our colleague’s family at this very sad time.”
The Metropolitan Police said officers were called shortly before 5am on June 13.
“A bus, used to transport passengers, collided with a man in his 60s,” the force said in a statement. “London Ambulance Service and London Air Ambulance attended the scene.
“The man, aged in his 60s, was taken to hospital in a critical condition where he died on June 15.
“His family have been informed and are being supported by specialist officers. The bus was not carrying passengers when it was involved in the collision.
“Inquiries continue; there has been no arrest”.
A spokesman for London Ambulance Service said: “We were called at 4.50am on Tuesday 13 June to reports of an incident at Heathrow Terminal 4, Hounslow.
“We sent numerous resources to the scene, including two ambulance crews, an advanced paramedic, an incident response officer and the London Air Ambulance.
“We treated a man at the scene before taking him to a major trauma center in London.”
Ferrovial, which bought a stake in Heathrow in 2006 and retains an interest despite selling chunks in recent years, has invested £12bn in projects at the airport, including the construction of Terminals 2 and 5.
